Patient Aftercare 

At Upper GI Surgery we believe that coaching people during their journey towards a healthier lifestyle maximises the chances of getting the most out of surgery, and avoid both weight regain and nutritional complications. This is why we provide all of our bariatric surgery patients with an extensive Ongoing Care Program (OCP).

 

Follow-up Appointments

Attending follow-up appointments after bariatric surgery allows you to benefit from the extensive support and advice we provide. Our expertise in obesity and bariatric care is based on managing thousands of patients over two decades.

Follow-up appointments* post-op with your surgeon or bariatric care specialist are scheduled for:

  • 2 weeks (one appointment with your surgeon/physician, one appointment with our dietitian);
  • 6 weeks;
  • 12 weeks, then;
  • Every 3 months for the first year;
  • Twice a year thereafter (for 3 years)

Follow-up appointments are included in your clinic fee for up to 3 years** after your surgery date.

Appointments can be made more often if deemed clinically indicated.

 

*A valid referral is required for all appointments.

– GP referral is valid for 12 months

– Specialist referral is valid for 3 months

What’s included in the Ongoing Care Program?

Following your weight loss surgery you will be provided with a tool kit to help you start your journey towards a healthier lifestyle. In addition to a second appointment with our Dietitian Tania Chaanine (your first appointment is pre-surgery), you will also receive:
